DATELINE:
August 21, 2005
Rich
and I will be playing a very special show this coming Friday, August 26
at Bend
Studio
(5014 McKinney Avenue). If you're up for hearing some music in a
non-rock club atmosphere then this is the show for you. Bend Studio is
a yoga studio by day and an acoustic music venue by night. We'll being
doing this show sans rhythm section but as long as I've Rich there with
me I'll be fine.
It's
a little more expensive to see a show at Bend Studio but you get to
hear music with other folks who are really ready to listen. I like bars
as much as the next person (well, maybe not quite as much) but it can
really be a pain when I can't hear the band I came to see because of
clinging bottles and yammering drunks.
So
let's consider this an experiment. Maybe we do it once and you find out
that you'd rather hear the clanging bottles and yammering drunks. Maybe
you are the yammering drunk (in which case I believe that you can bring
your own stuff - best call 214.841.9642 for details though). Maybe once
you can hear clearly what I'm on about in my lyrics you'll decide that
you can no longer in good conscience support what I'm doing. But don't
you really owe it to yourself to find out?
Show
starts at 8pm, doors open at 7pm (great for you folks that have kids -
you can get home early enough not to pay the sitter overtime. It's even
great for those of you who want kids - more time to get busy before
your boyfriend passes out drunk.) My friend Marc Solomon opens, Rich
and I are in the middle and the super talented Salim Nourallah
headlines. The room only holds around 80 people so get there early for
this intimate evening. You can order tickets in advance at the Bend
Studio website.
Hope
to see you there!

NEW WEBSITE
After owning the domain for
www.peterschmidt.us for the past couple of years I've finally decided
to get this damn thing up and running. From here on out, until the
moment I die (and maybe for a little while after that),
www.peterschmidt.us will be the place that I'm putting information on
all my musical doings. I don't care if I join The Grambling University
Tiger Marching Band, from here on out this is where you'll find out
about it.
Since, for the first time ever, I'm not operating under the sheild of a
band name it makes sense to have the domain name be my
name. I can't pretend that I'm not a little upset at the guys who
already own peterschmidt.com & .net, both of which have been
taken
for as long as I can remember.
At any rate, the basic site is up and running but I hope to add a lot
more content over the coming weeks. Right now you can find demo
versions of some of the songs that will later show up on my next album
in the MP3s section and
some unreleased tracks from some of my former bands in the Other Projects section.
The point is, that when it is done, the website will get you hot, wet
or whatever it is when you get excited.

WORK
CONTINUES ON NEW ALBUM
If you've been following my music for
any length of time you've probably noticed that everything I do takes
longer than I say it will. Well my latest album is no exception but
completion is nearing and when its done it will make you pee.
The album is being recorded out at the Echo Lab with
engineer Matt Barnhart and so far it has been a
blast. The core band is made up of myself on guitar and vocals, Rich
Martin on piano, organ and assorted other odds and ends, James
Driscoll on bass and Matt Kellum on drums
and percussion.
All the basic tracks are finished as well as most overdubs and strings
were recorded this past Monday, February 7. And I must say that the
strings session went very well indeed with Dave Willingham
engineering the sessions in place of an ailing Matt Barnhart. Here's a
couple of pics of our valiant string section.

(L to R) Brandi
Berry, Jocelyn Hund (Violins), Yura Nakajima (Viola), Eric D. Smith
(Cello).
