LCC: does anybody wanna play bingo? let us begin: LCC w/Centromatic and Jay Bennett Thursday October 3rd Mercury Lounge Austin Texas LCC w/ Pleasant Grove Friday October 4th Muddy Waters Dallas Texas www.muddywatersbar.com yeah, i know...it's kinda late notice for some of you. i usually like to send out these things the weekend before the show but guess what, i forgot. i usually don't think about what i'm gonna do until about 5 minutes before it happens and i forget that some people actually plan their lives. i'm proud of you! thanks to those of you who came out to witness the return of LCC when we opened for Interpol last week. we felt welcomed and we didn't play too poorly for a bunch of old men. expect us to improve as the circulation returns to our limbs. as far as Interpol...well, i would have loved to have been blown away but it didn't happen. they played fine but i was underwhelmed. i'm gonna listen to the record some more but so far color me unconvinced. but i did go see Doves last friday and it was awesome. not much in the way of stage presence but their sound and songs really got me. atmospheric and definitely anglo but not fey. i was suprised that the show was so crowded cause i didn't really have them pegged as a "buzz band". My Morning Jacket opened up and even though i have one of their CD's (and i like it) i was bored by them. they occasionally sounded kinda like one of those hippie jam bands. this saturday October 5th Elvis Costello is playing at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. i'm sure there are still tickets cause not enough people care about him these days. i've seen him four times and even the worst time was still pretty great. Phantom Planet featuring "that dude from Rushmore" opens up. the couple of songs i've heard by them were not too bad. we'll see. anyways, you really should go see Elvis Costello even if you're too young to give a shit. i'm starting to see some indie and emo (ugh) bands namechecking him in interviews so i suppose that's cool or something. if you go and you hate the show you can always go over to see Bright Eyes afterwards at the Gypsy Tea Room to wash the taste outta your mouth. did i miss the Melt Banana show? i think they were supposed to be coming sometime soon. once again t-shirts will be half price to mailing list members at the shows listed above. just tell who ever is selling the shirts that you are on the list and you want justice, damnit! for those of you who really do like to plan in advance, i can tell you that we will be playing with Baboon for their CD release show at the Curtain Club on Halloween. there's gonna be a number of bands on the bill but i don't have all the details yet. more info later. we need a piano player. f a d i n g , peter www.thelcc.net
